Hi all. 8 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi to all. A quick summary of me & CNC... I'm a newb.

40ish years in the automotive repair biz
+ 50ish years of hacking together 2-wheeled stuff to ride
+ an erratic history of cooking up (sometimes literally) little electronic bits
+ an erratic history of burning up bits of wood with various power & hand tools
+ a less-erratic history of burning myself with hot, home-made metal objects
+ an obsession with 'magic boxes' beginning with a Commodore VIC-20
+ a brother in-law that gave me a Taig lathe a few years back
+ new retirement (likely temporary due to lack of $$)
+ success resurrecting my 4-axis home brew stepper interface box & power supply
=

Well, here I am!
I have LOTS to learn, & maybe I can help expand the DIY lathe section of the forum. Right now I'm off to hunt down freebie steppers that have a bit more, er, (can I say testicles?) than the ones that I scrounged from floppies to test my interface/drivers/Mach2. Cheers.

Welcome aboard ! I'm looking at getting a 9x20 Lath from Harbor Freight this week. I was looking at a smaller unit but felt I really need a largher one for future work I'll be doing on it. I have found a good pacage deal on steppers that are rated @ 3000 Oz's for $499 with controler asemebleled and tested. Keep us informed with your other projects. I'm working on alternative fuel systems projects.
