Plotters use pens instead of ink cartridges to develop an image from the source so as to create an image that isn’t restricted by a DPI (dots per inch) resolution. Printers use DPI to measure image detail using the amount of dots that fit in one inch of paper. Plotters, on the other hand, “sketch” the image that you want to print. To best set up your plotter, have your plotter’s operating manual handy so that you can refer to it if you get lost in the process.
1
Connect a USB cable from your plotter to your PC.
2
Connect your plotter to a properly working power source, pressing both ends of the cable firmly so as not to end up with any contact issues.
3
Pop in any CD that came with your plotter into the computer and start installing the software on that CD. Follow the instructions carefully from the installation wizard.
4
Open the document on your computer that you would like to plot.
5
Click “Print” under the “File” menu on the window of the program your document has been opened in.
6
Under “Printer Name,” select the plotter you use and click “Print” or “OK” on the bottom of the window.
