Hi,

I'm not a machinist, nor do I work in the field, but I love to learn new things and use them for my custom car part projects... So I think CNC processing would be very cool to learn.

Here's my situation:

I have access to a 6 x 12 commercial CNC Plasma machine. The guy that owns it, has "no clue" how to use it. Its just been sitting in his shop collecting dust for years. So needless to say, In discussing it with him, I've got the OK to use it, if I'll help him learn how to use it!!

So in my investigations, it has a older version of BOBcam (V17 ). Of course he has no books or info on the system, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants.

I've gotten the machine to run its gantry's, so I know it works....So what I'm here for, is to learn how to get the machine setup, and how to get a design to the machine and make it cut.

I've become efficiant at using EMachine's CAd program, so designing isn't a issue.. I want to learn how to get it to a program Gcode state, and make it run in the machine. I hope I can find the help and understanding here in these forums.

Anyone wishes to help hold my hand in this, I'd very much appreciate it.

Looking forward to learing, and hearing from you.

Brian
