G-Code overview webpage 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
There is one good G-Code overview page out on the Web. These guys went the extra mile to explain just about everything.

Here's the link:
http://www.linuxcnc.org/handbook/gcode/g-code.html

enjoy,
Ivan

If i am not wrong you don't have to know how to write and read G-code in order to run a cnc machine.
The G-code is automatically generated by the computer after you have finished the cad and cam processes.
Is that wright?

Hello Mik82,

For the most part you are correct when using a CAM Program. The other part is when something goes wrong, it is helpful to know some of the g-codes so you can trouble shoot.

That is probably how most people learn it, through trying to solve problems. Rarely do you sit down and write a complete program. Many times the G-Code you would have to write is thousands of lines long. That is where a good CAM Program is your savior.

Have a good one,
Ivan

You don't necessarily have to, but it is nice to know what the machine is about to do before it does it. By knowing what the machine is going to do, you can prevent disaster.

For the most part, you see the same codes over and over again. It isn't as tough as it might look.

Ned,

I agree completely. The more you see them, the more they just get burnt into your brain.
