Hi,

I have a new milling machine coming in a few days. The Syil X4 Plus with all options, including stand. I am assuming that the total weight will be about 250Kg. I live in Japan and we do now have much room here. I live in a house and my home lab is on the 2nd floor. The house is 3 years old.

Can anyone tell me if this machine will fall through the roof to the first floor? Has anyone here had experience with doing this before?

I really didn't think much about this when I ordered it. However, when the Japan supplier sent me email today telling me to get either a fork lift or a lot of people to help move this thing. I was shocked, still shocked. This makes me worry if my 2nd floor can support this thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

First off to me the idea is nuts....
Then:
There is so much more information required to even guesstimate.
Foot Print of the machine, the make up of the floor, how you intend on displacing the weight...
Therefore, I say not feasible.
But..
If I know how to convert properly 250 = 550lbs.
Which really isn't that much...

I think you are safe.... a standard bathtub holds 36 us gallons... combine that with the weight of a person, say 200 pounds would be almost the same. It may be a good idea to build a platform to disperse the weight over a larger area of the floor. You could take two 4' x 8' sheets of plywood nail or screw 4 2" x 4" on 16 inch centers, between the sheets of plywood. Cut pieces to fit the ends, between the 2 x 4's and you have a sturdy platform to set the machine on.
