2b vs gh3 tap 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Can someone please tell me the difference between a "2b" and "gh3" fit of the thread on a tapped thru hole? i know it has something to do with a roll form thread and this is a very specific protocal?

Hi sd, 1A 2A and 3A apply to external threads, 1B 2B and 3B apply to internal threads. Certain applications require allowances for assembly, lubricant or growth due to high temps. The GH3 refers to this allowance. 2B= internal thread GH3 = the allowance. Off the top of my head, I think GH3 is the standard tap. Please don't quote me on that. lol Maybe another user can verify that.
