interpolation question 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Can someone explain how interpolation works(I'm interested in regards to a 3-axis, vertical milling machine). There are plenty of programs that use it at work, but I'm not quite sure how the machine makes the holes/radii based on the coordinates that have been entered.

Hello big_hoovie,

I think you are in luck. I wouldn't say I am a good source on interpolation, but I just had a member pass along a pdf that explains it. Normally I just let the CAM Program figure it out and I haven't been interested enought to learn how it works.

Attached on this post is a pdf file that should help you out.

Have a good one,
Ivan
