newbie crash course in cad & cam. help! 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
I have been working on a gauge cluster for my hotrod, using rhino the demo.I's been tough for me learning cad.question is in lazycam when i use the offsets for the bit it will not generate a g-code.but if i run through with no offset it will give me a g-code.so what i did is go back to the start and resized the hole for the gauges. i can'nt figure out what cad or cam program to buy being so new, can you help me out?

thank you dan

I would try Emachineshop.com the program is free and you will get use to setting up the machine. it will generate the code for you and is easy to use. they offer a machine service that you can use but if your just learning its a free cad program. there are tutorial and good info if you get lost.

Hello Dan,

As you probably know, I dig Rhino3D. If you know anyone in school or works for a school, you should go after the education version. Actually about all the different CAD programs have education versions.

Here are a couple of places to shop once you get an "Education Friend"
http://www.academicsuperstore.com/
http://www.studica.com/

Have a good one,
Ivan
