Hello my name is Yves Neveu and I'm an Engineer trying to be a capable machinist. My company has two Haas CNC machines and have only been operated once or twice. My goal is become familiar with these machines to increase productivity of the company.

I have been trying to program a simple coupler rod part but have been running into several problems. Ideally i was starting with a .75 inch rod and facing it off.. then i was going to perform a peck drill canned cycle to about 3.025 in. and then i wanted to bring in the tail stock.. this is where i run into some problems.. the tail stock refuses to move and the machine spits out a default warning.... what is the propper procedure to call in a tail stock.

also, is it possible to perform a canned cycle witin another canned cycle?

the lather CNC is a SL-20...
