CNC ECourse Day 7 CNC Final Projects
Video Info: Video Transcript:
Its days seven and we've made it.
Today is the day that I'm probably most excited about and it's also our easiest
day for you as well. There's nothing too heavy to learn today, is really about
final projects and various things that we've built or made using CNC.
Remember our five different steps to
CNC well guess what, we are done with those and today we are going to look at
final products. Remember our flowcharts? We are also done with those as well.
So let's move on. What's left? Well we are going to show off some of those
parts that we made with CNC just to give you a taste or look at the different
things you can do. We are also going to show off some of the art that we've
made with CNC. In the second part of video today were to talk a little bit about
CNC information.com and what it is. It really is great CNC related info and
it's free it's for you to use as a resource.
Let's get into the different the types
of items that you can build with CNC. Here’s a look, you probably recognize
this as a barn and there's a number of cutouts here hanging on the side of this
barn. These are all done with a CNC Plasma cutter and designed initially on the
front-end of the project. A photograph is taken of the barn and the sizing of
it so when the silhouettes were cut out they would fit to. You can take a look
at this windmill in the upper right-hand corner. This is really a 4 x 8 sheet
of steel cutouts in the shape. The cowboy is bigger and he's a two-part item
and this cow is really a 4x8 sheet of 12-gauge steel.
Here's another look at a farm entry
gate. A buddy of mine’s father has a ranch called Sleepy Q Ranch. They wanted
to some boots on either end just to spruce up their entry to the ranch.
This a look at a CNC router project.
You'll notice on the upper left, this is the design in CAD and we brought it
into cam. This is actually 3-D routing you can see it is puffed up here. This
is a look at the CNC Wood router that I built. There's a number of different
steps of this process obviously but this is just afer I got done with the final
one and this is made out of cedar. Here's a look at that as a Tiger hockey's
Iowa Hawkeyes fans look at the Tiger Hawk out on his deck. This is his
brand-new deck that he built this past summer with a hot tub and he wanted to
show off to everyone in the world that he is from Iowa. This is the final
project after he stained it and it looks like pretty cool actually.
Now there's the other side of it,
which is CNC parts. Not everything is just for fun or for good looks. Here's a
look when I was building my CNC router table. There's a number of different
parts I had to make on my milling machine. This is a look at a few different
ones. There are actually a couple different types of parts but they are very
similar. I’d come up with a prints and you'll see that the sizing of this was 3
inches by 3. Then I would come up with a program of some sorts and go ahead and
mill them. You can see a stack of them. This is what those adjusters look like
on my a CNC Wood router when they're finished and in use.
In industry there's a number of parts
obviously that are built each day using CNC machines and here's a couple
different looks. On the left here you have the material bolted and held down
but it just finish with its machining cycle is as machining aluminum will see
that the coolants everywhere. Over here on the right-hand side there is a lathe
and it looks like some sort of coupler they are building. They just cut some
threads into it as well. There's a number of things in industry using this technology
each and every day to build the things that we use the various products.
Let’s look at a couple of different
fun projects. On the left here this is vcarving with a wood router, this is a
Pacific Northwest Indian style of design or Native American style design. Here
are some numbers. I met a lady who got her son into motorcross and he wanted to
display his number in his room. One point is that it can be any font really.
This is showing a few different things
coming together. There is some steel here and that was done with the CNC Plasma
cutter and then you'll also notice this glass disc. This is a tabletop or
coffee table top that you can get can anywhere, but sandblasted. One of the
reasons I'm pointing this out is I also have a home vinyl cutter and if you
have a vinyl cutter you can cut out sand blast resistant various shapes and
sizes. It's a type of CNC to me and crosses over nicely. I cut out that the
vinyl sandblast resist and I adhered it to this glass disk and then sandblasted
this design. This is actually a floor lamp and has a footswitch. You can put it
in a corner and as you walk by the footswitch you step on it and turn on the
lights down in the corner. Really what I'm trying to get across is that you're
really only limited by your imagination. If you can think of it you can do it
with CNC. If it's more complex there may be more steps to it but really it's
your brain that limits you.
Lets move on to CNCinformation.com.
This is a community websites where you come and share your information. You can
share products, projects links, and anything related to CNC. You can also set
up a member profile or a user profile and you can do some interesting things
with that. If you do set up a member profile you can throw some photographs up
there that can be project build photographs and you can connect with other
members. There are tons of articles their, video tutorials on cnc, and there’s
a series of forums there is well where you can ask questions or just add
information. Also there is a bank of CNC links that constantly grows and if you
have a personal site or commercial site that is related to CNC you can go ahead
and go in and add your own link to them right now if you go to
CNCinformation.com. If you join up and register there is a free G-Code quick guide
that you can download at that is just really a reference for you that you have
to run your machines so throughout the shop and error you can't quite remember
what that G-Code meant its quick reference right there for you that you can
take a peek at. Remember its real easy and it's free to use this site is for
you. Head on over and join up and get all the benefits of the community
websites about CNC information today. That's all I got for the basics
introductions to CNC course. If you have any other questions you can look me up
over at www.CNCinformation.com. Thanks!
