Modern Day Machine Shop Technology

Learn About Technologies Machine Shops Use Today

It is not only essential to learn the breakthroughs and innovations of the machining tools and equipment with the changing time but also to identify basic equipment. Machining nowadays has become a hobby, job or both. Therefore, it is important to know the basic tools which are the lathes, drill and mill. Under these are different types of tools used in a machine shop and its processes.

Boring on the lathe, center drilling, counter sinking, and reaming, collets, four jaw chuck, grooving, operations and control, and three jaw chuck are all associated to engine lathes.

The computer numerical control (CNC) is a type of drilling machine that is automated and utilizes electricity to operate. Other electric machines include: electrical discharge machining, electrochemical machining, electron beam machining etc.

The basic machining processes on the other hand are turning, drilling and milling while its secondary activities are shaping, planning, boring, turning, drilling and milling.

The tool used for turning is the lathe. Turning is the first method to rotate a workpiece and remove against a cutting tool.
Milling operations meanwhile is the rotating of the cutting tool to bring the edges to the workpiece. For this particular type of process, the milling machine is the one used.
The drill presses are used in drilling operations. The drill presses purpose is to create wholes to bring the rotating cutter with the cutting edges.
Lastly, a miscellaneous operation just like burnishing produce no swarf but can do the work just like what a lathe, mill or drill press can do.

Cutting a metal just like any other raw material is not easy.

The maintenance of the machine should be the top priority. The cutting fluid is applied to the machine to cool and lubricate the machine. The water jet cutting is an innovation in the cutting machine, it involves pressurized water and is able to cut metal with ease and at the same time have a finish product.

This process is known as cold cutting which increases efficiency as compared to laser and plasma cutting.

In the United States, although the course on machining has been eradicated, still a lot of people are engaged into that kind of business. In fact, listed in the internet site are the locations and names of the machine shops. There are also machinist/hobbyist who prefer to also use the internet for promotion and information. Some of these people may either prefer small or big machines depending on space, resources and preference of the machinist.

Establishing a machine shop is never easy.

Hurdles will always come along the way. And the vital thing to think of is the budget. Having the first machine- mill, lathe or drill could be very hard. People should not only base financial investment on the first machine purchase.

The owner should have a goal and commitment of sustaining the machine shop.
One should not also feel that it is more of a burden rather than hobby. There is always an opportunity cost in all actions. A person who wishes to engage in machine shop business should deny oneself of the luxury and instead plan ahead of what the machine shop should contain.

Cnc Shop, Water Jet Cutting Machines, Granite Bridge Saw

?

CNC Machines, Water jet Cutting machines and Granite Bridge Saw are getting very popular machineries in today?s industrial world. These are most effective, cost effective and fastest growing method to cut materials.

CNC Machines technology is one of the new emerging technologies used in metal industry. The introduction of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines has made a great impact on the manufacturing industry. These are very useful as can help to cut curves as a straight line; Complex 3-D structure can be produce and thus reduced the human actions. This is one of the reasons so that CNC Shop are getting so popular and helpful. It gives more flexibility in holding the parts in manufacturing and to change the machine to produce different components.

cnc machine has the functions of milling, grinding, polishing and sculpting.
It is especially suitable for producing high grade basin board and other abnormal products
Made of stone, ceramic, glass and micro-crystal stone. The machine will automatically
finish the processing of any required profile by simple setting.? The products are of high precision and good glossiness rate.

?

One more example of same type of tool is Water jet cutting Machines, which are capable of slicing into metal or materials with high velocity and pressure. It is often used for both fabrication and manufacture of parts for machinery and some other devices.

Water jets can be used to cut materials as diverse as fish sticks, ‘gas station’ sandwiches, and titanium. But still there are some materials that cannot be effectively cut with a water jet cutter like, tempered glass, which shatters when cut, regardless of the cutting technology used.

?

Water jet cutting technology is the most efficient, cost effective and fastest growing method to cut materials. Due to its versatility and ease of operation, fabricators are quickly realizing the vast potential of these machines. Water jets (or abrasivejets) can cut virtually any material in any shape with no heat distortion or mechanical stress usually caused by other methods.

?

Granite Bridge Saw are also getting very useful for industrial uses. Bridge Saws also include different varieties for the different purposes in Small laboratories or industries as Marble and granite bridge cutter, diamond saw machine into rails, electronic bridge shape sawing machine, Compactness and sturdiness etc.

?

Marble Services Co. has contracted with many corporations, businesses and residents to perform hundreds of restoration and refinishing projects, both large and small. Following the Northridge Earthquake we restored many damaged marble statues and stonework, in many cases masking any evidence of damage.

How to extend the life of your used cnc lathe

Most manufacturing facilities nowadays employ the use of cnc lathes for their manufacturing turning applications. Because these cnc lathes can be used either for a single piece manufacture or producing thousands of parts per order, they are very much an integral part of every modern machine shop. However, the capital equipment costs of new cnc lathes can some times be a heavy burden on the cash flow situation of many machine shops. That has led to most machine shop owners turning to used cnc lathes as a means of reducing the capital equipment costs. However, in order to extend the life of your used cnc lathes, certain basic steps need to be taken so that you get the maximum return on your investment. In this article, we will address these procedures.

First of all in order to extend the life of your cnc lathes, ensure that a yearly preventive maintenance program is set in place. This yearly program should incorporate steps for turret alignment, backlash measurement and reduction or elimination, machine guideways inspection and replacement if necessary, coolant pump inspection and repair and spindle run out inspections and adjustments. There should also be a quarterly procedure to drain out all hydraulic oil and replacement with new hydraulic fluids. Additionally, at the same time, drain out the coolant and replace it with fresh made coolant to proper mixing ratios as recommended by the manufacturer.

In addition to the preventive maintenance procedures as outlined above, the daily operation of used cnc lathes should be adjusted to develop a balance between high productivity and extension of machine life. For example, while most machines are rated for very high rapid travel and super fast indexing, a simple way in which you can extend the life is by reducing and operating at lower rapid rates and slower indexing speeds. Such lower levels of operating speeds may reduce the production rate but will increase the life expectancy of the moving parts inside the machine.

And finally, as a general rule, clean out chips and other debris daily from your old cnc lathes, so they do not start entangling around machine guards and such. Thus, simple practices of good maintenance procedures and gentle operating practices can ensure a long life for your investments in old and used cnc lathes.

Machine Shop Overview

A machine shop is a workshop where materials such as plastic, steel, and glass are cut and shaped with the help of machine tools. Machining is the process of removing material from raw stock and transforms it into a usable part. Machine shops use four separate and distinct processes to modify a piece of metal into a machine. The modifying is done by turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.

It is not an exaggeration to say that machines have changed whole societies and civilizations. James Watt, the inventor of the first steam engine is credited for the impetus for the Industrial Revolution. For many years, machining has been an art of skilled craftsmen creating individual and unique machine parts. With time, the machinists had started to replicate parts on an ongoing basis. In the 20th century, computers and software have further added to the development of the machines. Now, the designing and manufacturing of the machines is a lot easier. With the Internet, the manufactures don’t have to go to the vendors either.

There are many websites offering or promoting machine shops on the Internet. But if you want an experienced, effective, and reliable machine shop, visit www.emachineshop.com. This online shop is dedicated to provide customized parts to its customers. The trouble of finding a vendor and waiting for the quotation for the designed machine takes days. This delays the manufacturing of new parts. eMachineShop aims at saving manufacturing time for customers by as much as 90%.

eMachineShop believes in providing solutions in 3 minutes. Though it sounds strange but it is true. The website has online, easy to use software for engineers and non-engineers. You don’t need expensive engineering support to use the software. This saves money and time. The software allow import of certain file formats produced by more complex drawing programs such as AutoCAD, Pro-E, and SolidWorks.. The built-in features of the software include creating designs, evaluating designs, getting automatic instant price quotations, and ordering.

Many machine shops avoid taking short-run fabrication orders as it has to follow a cumbersome process. eMachineShop solves this problem because we streamline the entire custom fabrication process from the user’s screen till delivery at the door step.

Our manufacturing unit allows eMachineShop to design intricate metal parts and manufacture them within tolerances of a few thousandths of an inch. Our machined products have been used in spacecraft, in maritime applications, as well as more common consumer goods such as motorcycles and even camping equipment.

Add success to your business by logging on to www.emachineshop.com.

The History Of The Machine Shop

There is one thing you must know about machine shops, when you walk into a machine shop, you walk into a place that has a history. Machine shops are the places in which many of today’s inventions were first born. For those of you that are completely unaware to what actually takes place in a machine shop, and I am absolutely sure that there are enough of you, two words are sufficient, welding and fabricating. From the machine shop idea appeared places such as the laboratory and the workshop. A machine shop will be home to pretty much every piece of kit you might possibly think of. Here are a few good examples: nuts and bolts, screws, and other metal pieces, measurement tools, work benches, welding equipment, tools used for fabricating various items.

The machine shop is also home to some of the world’s top professionals. The most common professions you can find inside any typical machine shop are that of mechanic, technicians, millers, designers, and many, many more. The fields in which we find products manufactured inside machine shops include automotive, nautical, tools, mechanics, and so on. The thing about any machine shop is that workers, apart from their usual orders and duties, can expect to perform a large variety of manufacturing and fabricating tasks, so if you walk into pretty much any machine shop you can expect to find an immense number of instruments and tools like welding equipment, fabricating tools and materials, work benches, etc.

The number of machine shops in the US and Canada has seen quite a decrease because the young high school graduates of today do not seem to be all that interested in working in a machine shop. For those that might be interested, however, here are some of the most important processes that take place inside the average machine shop. First of all we have welding which is the most common process and is used both for fabricating and repairs. Boring is another important machine shop process. Boring is the process through which a machine shop professional enlarges an already drilled bore or hole.

Precision manufacturing machinery is also very common in most machine shops. By using this type of machinery, workers can create virtually perfect parts and tools that would otherwise take a very long time to machine by hand, and still the results would be far from the perfection offered by precision machinery. Some good examples of parts that are created through the use of such machinery are engine parts and components that need to have zero margin for error. Underrating the importance of machine shops would be quite an error as these shops are creating parts that are being used in numerous industries and sectors.
