Makerbot Build Part 5

Electronics testing should be your first step. If it was, then you will know if your MB is DOA as mine was.

Got my new MB from makerbot.
Setting up everything to test it.

Complete ID10T moment with the connectors. There should be a loop in the wire.

MakerBot Cupcake CNC – Build Video Parts 1,2,3&4

Just started the build of the MakerBot Cupcake CNC.

The stain and varnish portion of the project is near completion.

I’m attempting to complete the initial testing of the motherboard, steppers and power supply, but I seem to be having a few issues. I’ve never seen any lights on the motherboard.

Attempted to update the motherboard firmware using the ReplicatorG software. Drivers have been properly installed for the motherboard connection. ReplicatorG unable to update firmware. Keeps giving error: ‘programmer is not responding’

Can’t help but think this board is not functioning as intended.

MakerBot build part 2.

MakerBot wants me to test the power supply before setting up an RMA for the motherboard.

I guess there is some nifty trick of hooking up the green and black wires of the power supply with a paper clip to force the power supply to turn on. But forget all that. I have a power supply tester.

Lets hook it up and see what happens.

Building the Enclosure

I had to do all this twice, so don’t make my mistake. Make sure the hole on the center piece is on the right side of the box and make sure you install the mounts and screws in the correct position.

Z-rod Installation

Be sure to mount the bearing sandwiches as close as possible on the same parallel. This will help to ensure that the rods all look even after the box is complete.

Also, double and triple check to make sure the bearings are at or below the top of the box, but are not extruding over the top of the box. Be sure all of these are even.
